Bogan's Rant - With Michael McShane - January 2014
Oh, Australia Day. How I love your sunbaked, full as a boot,
waterlogged charm. 4 days of sunshine, fishing, eating, and family
have left me pretty bloody content.
As I stagger back to the office, through the sweltering heat to
my air conditioned sanctuary (You can hate me later), I'm reminded
of just what is sitting on my voicemail and in my email. Messages
of frustration, impatience and confusion from candidates who I just
can't get any feedback for.
Oh wait. I have had feedback for a couple. But it turns out,
'Yeah, thanks but… nah' Isn't sufficient for a bloke who's been
jumping like a Dingo on an electric fence for the last 3 months on
the promise that he's a 'strong candidate' for the role. Geez.
Fussy B#stard.
Regardless this wave of indifference to effort and interest is
sweeping the nation. In fact, if I cut out the amound of time I
spend talking to candidates who are annoyed by it, I could take a
new hobby. Like catching fish with my bare hands in the middle of
the ocean. 6 days a week.
So what are we going to do about it? We're going to make
our voices heard. Join forces with me, sign the Bogan petition for
Honest and Ample feedback. What am I going to do with the mass
of support? I'm going to share it. I'm going to talk about it. I'm
going to tell every candidate who finds themselves in the same
situation that 'It's not just you'. I'm going to start a revolution
and then I'm going to have a beer and a nap.
Now I'll joke about this in the campfire yarns, but to tell you
the truth, it really is enough to ruffle the feathers of a plucked
chook.
Let's kick this rant up a gear and make our bellow
heard. Honest and ample feedback is a responsibility. Not a
privilege offered to a select few. Make it happen.
Happy Australia Day, fellow Bogan's.

Anything with cords that gets caught when I need it. Murphy and his
stupid law being what it is. Headphones, telephones, ethernet,
extension leads, christmas lights... I've started now. This could
go for a while.
