Bogan's Rant - With Michael McShane - October 2014
The Honest Journey
I usually don't get sentimental until I'm sitting around a camp
fire with a can of my favourite frothie. But today I've been
reminiscing about the simple things that used to be the everyday
Aussie cultural norm. The simple things that seem to have been left
by the wayside.
Things like common courtesy. Mateship. Morals. Freedom of
speech. Hard work without short cuts.
I'm talking about the honest journey through life that used to
be a medal worn with pride. The strong and honourable men and women
who may have stumbled at times but made their way through their own
efforts, without stepping on anyone else to get ahead.
What the hell is with the 'It's just business' and 'It's not my
problem' culture that's filling up the industry these days? And
what place does that kind of self centred, egotistical and arrogant
culture have in your day to day life or mine?
Absolutely none I hope.
In the last 3 weeks I have felt betrayed. I have been lied to
and you could say dead set shafted. I have had promise after
promise repeatedly broken and the sadest part is, it's sounds like
I'm not the only one.
Let's stop making a hero out of the cut throat 'businessmen' who
save their company a dollar by bankrupting a supplier for a better
deal. Let's not idealise the reality tv star with millions of
followers and start to understand that they actually have trouble
making real friends.
I want to start a month of Bogan pride. Let's celebrate every
hard working, honest, intelligent and generous person out there who
has succeeded without screwing over the people around them. Let's
cut the crap and get back to the honest journey through life.
Join us on Facebook today and nominate the dinkum and hard
working people in your life for the Stealth "Honest Journey" award.
The only criteria for entry is that they're not a flaming Gallah or
drongo!

Bogan's Pet Hate - People who can't read
'Keep Left' signs. On the footpaths, on the esculators, on the
moon. These directionally challenged Muppet's are everywhere! How
hard is it?!
